Kickass, the doorstop dog, would like to point out, during this bitter cold spell, that it is a mistake to consider indoor plumbing one of the great advances of civilization.
Indoor plumbing stopped human evolutionary advancement in its tracks by discouraging the development of a natural fur coat—what has evolved for humans in this regard is, of course, laughable and serves only to keep barbers and beauticians in business. Then there is how the urge to either migrate or hibernate got passed off to the birds and the bears respectively. Certainly some of these winter survival traits would have developed in the human DNA, particularly in the northern regions, had it not been for indoor plumbing. Think about that today with the wind chill below zero! (Kickass will be resuming his research on just how the hell cats managed to pull off the litter box caper.)
